Utility Install

Halme Construction has installed miles of water, sewer, storm, irrigation and power/phone conduits for multiple different uses and customers. Halme has worked very hard to create efficient teams that can install these utility lines “on-grade-on-time”. It is a coordinated team effort to have a pipe crew work seamlessly throughout the day, to have each player know his own role, and also understand the role of all the others, and to execute the game plan day after day. Halme has several excavators which are primarily the machines used for this work. We own a 345 Caterpillar excavator as well as a 460 Volvo which have both been equiped with 3-D grade control.  We also have a Volvo 360, John Deere 270 LC, 2- Cat 320 CLUs, and a Cat 305 mini ex. These have been very effective machines for utility work, especially with the hydraulic quick connect buckets where a bucket can be removed and a compaction wheel installed in a few seconds. Also Halme has a Caterpillar hydraulic hammer for removing solid rock in areas where it is needed and many other specialized tools for utility install such as HDPE fusion machines, pipe lasers, shoring, manhole setters and the like to complete every utility install need.

Halme's recent investment in 3-D GPS grade moniters on a several excavators helps the operator dig to the proper depth with minimal manual grade checking. This has also helped Halme become an industry leader in building stakeless utlity projects. Halme was able to construct the underground piping in a wastewater treatment facilty without using any staking. The whole project was built in 3-D models and downloaded into computers mounted in the excavators, which gave the operators exact knowledge of where the pipeline needed to go as well as precise knowledge of all the other buried pipelines that were being crossed.
